The (mostly) completed family tree: familytree.png

You'll notice that there are instructions on the last two pieces:
refer to family legends to obtain birth and death years
3.85 cycles through 26 symbols
Anna could be 1 14, 92, 53 or 27, 66, 40, 79 or...
Taylor could be 46, 27, 51, 90, 15, 70

Basically, Anna is numbering the letters of the alphabet with a Mod-26 scheme. § So, if we take the numbers from the birth and death years, it should spell out where and when we need to be for Aunt Anna's party. There are two small problems however. One is that we don't have Jorge's years, and we're missing one piece of the family tree. The good news is, based upon the other family tree pieces, the missing part will be asking for Daniel's dates, which are '52 and '70, so really we're just missing 2 numbers. § Even with two missing letters, and two wrong letters, we can make out the where and when: 10am Fort Matanzas Picnic.

Fort Matanzas protected the southern river approach to St. Augustine in colonial times. It commemorates one of the earliest conflicts where 250 French Huguenots were killed by the Spanish. This gave the area the name Matanzas, Spanish for "slaughters".

So, the final list of what each family has to bring:
Souza - Information for rest of family
Ravelo - Balloons
Garcia - Pinata
Williams - Cupcake (or cake) with candle in it

I believe that everyone should bring a $10 gift so that they can participate in a Yankee Swap as they can be a lot of fun. That and cameras so they can record what happens. And cell phones so that they can keep in touch with all of us not in attendance. I'm gonna try to be up just in case the Souzas get any more messages from Taylor/Aunt Anna. You can also PM me on UF if you want to swap phone numbers.

And now, I think I'm off to bed. I'm sleepy and my eyes are all itchy (I'm either allergic to something or I'm getting pinkeye. I don't like either possibility.)
