So not too long after this, there is a posting on Christina's wall that says the person was playing around with the numbers and found the website http://332811.com. If you look up the DNS, it was registered at GoDaddy like the other sites, but not until July 26th, while the others have been registered in June. What's weird is that 332811.com was found before the original number order http://118233.com - but they appear to have the exact same info (and were registered at about the same time). And to top off the bizarreness for these sites, Christina has taken to mentioning only 332811.com in her updates. Were we really supposed to find 332811 before 118233? Were both sites registered just in the off chance that we might take a bizarre route to the next step? And why were they registered so late in the process?
So looking at http://332811.com or http://118233.com (personally, I think the latter is a better solution but since everyone keeps talking about the former, I can't exactly ignore it), it starts off with a handwritten message from the kidnapper.
teChnology has tricked us.
the Human condition cannot be rendeRed In zeros and ones.
it haS made us ThInk that each of us can stand aloNe.
truth is the wAy.
The picture beneath the handwriting is later confirmed by Christina's mother to be Christina as a baby. This would seem to rule out any doubt of Christina being a random victim since presumably he had acquired the picture before he took Christina.
Checking out the source code also gives more of the kidnapper's manifesto:
A darkness has fallen over the world
The fog of diversion, the lie of distraction
Proxy has become primary
Avatar has become hero
You cannot embrace alone
You cannot agree with yourself
Progress is a group activity
Friendship a hands-on pursuit
What has crept in to deceive us?
Or was it always in us, the temptation
To lower our eyes, to avoid the world
To hold inside what should be shared
To hoard ourselves
And impoverish us all.
Bear the weight as I do
To pierce the darkness with brilliant light
No matter what laws I break
Or milk I spill...
And if you don't already have enough numbers running through your head, the page is titled 332881 - which is not the same as the URL since there is an extra 8 (and a missing 1). However, there is no 332881.com or 188233.com. Please let it be noted that I did think about registering either one of those URLs but in order to make it truly believable, I would have to go through GoDaddy and fuck that shit.
So, anyway, where we we? The creepy handwritten picture. If you take all the capital letters, it spells out CHRISTINA. If you add that to the end of the url (in lowercase since this all seems to be backwards for some reason), you get the next page: http://332811.com/christina (By the way, do not add on an ending / because for some reason it thinks that means you are looking for christina.html which doesn't exist.)
where is 3 8 18 9 19 20 9 14 1 ?
This asks "where is christina?" I actually could think of a million ways to answer this, but since this is the Inside Experience the answer is "inside" which takes us to the next page: http://332811.com/inside
20 18 21 20 8 is the way
Truth is the way, as we are so frequently reminded by the manifestos and so it's off to http://332811.com/truth
This page has a very faint symbol on it. The symbol is from the flag of New Mexico (which is taken from the sun symbol of the Zia Indians).
Unfortunately, this is as far as we've gotten. Trying /newmexico, /zia, /sunsymbol, etc just gives 404 errors. I'm not entirely convinced that this is a dead end, but as to what the next step would be, I have no idea (and neither does anyone else apparently).
There is actually one other page that was found: 404.html Note that this is a specific 404 page and that any other 404 pages that you'll access by typing a wrong answer will just be your run-of-the-mill 404 page.
404 ERROR: page cannot be found.
May be temporarily unavailable, or may be removed permanently.
Make sure you aren't annihilating freedom forever by your blunders.
Subdirectories follow the logic of emphasis.
